I’ve been shopping online for quite some time, but I haven’t encountered a tool quite as useful as Camel Camel Camel in quite a while.
Despite its ridiculous name, it’s very helpful for being able to make educated shopping decisions on Amazon.
At this point in my life, I’m quite dependent on Amazon to deliver everything from paper towels to car parts in a couple of days at the lowest possible price.
There are two types of products that I buy on Amazon: the kind that I need right away (well, you know, in two days) and commodity items which I’ll snap up when there’s a good price.
For the first kind, Camel Camel Camel offers a price history, which allows you to see how the current price compares to what the price has been, which might help you confirm that you’re making the purchase at the right time, or whether it might be worth holding off if you can, or looking elsewhere for another store that may have a price closer to the historical average or low for that item.
Then there’s things that I buy regularly, and keep an eye for a good price. For me, these are things like replaceable car parts (coolant, oil, wiper blades), paper products (tissues, paper towels, toilet paper) and pet products (litter and food).
Camel Camel Camel has another feature, where it’ll email you when the price drops below a threshold that you set. A good way to set one of these up is to look at the price history and see what the lowest prices have been historically, and set an alert for when the price drops to near that price.
There’s other handy features, like the ability to quickly watch an entire wishlist (I use this feature to categorise items [like car parts, baby products] and have them added automatically to my Camel Camel Camel account) and a Chrome extension allowing you click on a button in the address bar (on Amazon pages only) to get a quick look at the price history, and create an alert if desired.
All told, Camel Camel Camel is an excellent tool to help you save money on Amazon. And best of all, it’s free! They make their money by using affiliate links to the Amazon products, so be sure to use those when placing an order.
